About NAFAR |
|
Northern Arizona Ferret Alliance and Rescue is committed to protecting the domestic ferret. We are an independent Arizona charity, led by a volunteer Board of Directors; we are not an affiliate or "local chapter" of any other organization. We are also non-partisan and do not formally endorse or campaign for candidates. However, we do encourage voters to learn about candidates' records on ferret welfare issues and to elect those who protect domestic ferrets in legislation and public policy. The election of officials who are supportive of animal-friendly measures helps make our governmental advocacy efforts more effective and ultimately benefits all animals, including ferrets. Our mission… is to rescue, shelter, heal, adopt and safeguard ferrets in need, while educating the public and stimulating a cooperative spirit of compassion for ferrets among community members. Our vision… is that we can create a world in which ferrets are regarded as the companion animals they are, and that people will regard these companion animals as lifelong, valued family members; embrace their responsibility for the welfare of domestic ferrets; and respect, value and protect the animals with which we share this earth. |

About our facilities Our shelter is located inside a private residence. For that reason, appointments are required to visit our facility. NAFAR ferrets do not spend more than 12 hours at a time inside a cage, all play groups are given minimally 12 hours per day outside of a cage. There are currently two rooms for housing ferrets here, one is designated as a sanctuary for those little ones that will likely live out their days here. Each room contains independent A/C. A third room is designated as quarantine space, and we also have two foster homes available for quarantines as well when needed.
